On Saturday, February 15, 2025, nine brave souls plunged into the Potomac River raising $4,170 for Virginia State Special Olympics at Leesylvania State Park. It was cold and raining but that did not damper our spirits. Photos may be found at PLUNGE.
. Those entering the bracing waters included GK Gaston Reboredo, TR Zachary Waters, CH John Kim, RE (Acting) Chuck Zakrzwski and his son, Peter, Terry Riley and his son, Patrick, Sir Knight of Shivery and Ted Smith. If there are any generous individuals who might consider supporting Council 459’s effort, please consider contributing at Fitzgerald Counsel Plunge Homepage.
When Vivien, the Lady of the Lake, was vanquished, Gaston was heard to remark “From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that entered the waters with me shall be my brother; be he neer so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in Alexandria now-a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Claude de la Colombiere’s day.”
