Council 459 managed to bring in a contribution of over four tons of food (8,805 lbs) and $3,851.95 in cash, checks and gift cards. Our appreciation to all the brothers that turned out for the effort with special recognition to the program chair, Keith Matthews. Photos may be found at STLucy2025.
Over 250,000 people in the Diocese of Arlington are “food insecure,” meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming from. The Diocese of Arlington, Catholic Charities St. Lucy Food Project seeks to alleviate the problem of the invisible hungry within the 21 counties and 7 cities of our Diocese. St. Lucy operates food pantries in Alexandria City, Sterling, and Front Royal and a distribution warehouse in Manassas serving those struggling with food insecurity. Their local pantry network also includes parish, interfaith, community and government pantries delivering nonperishable food, produce, dairy, and meat.
