The Knights have been asked to make the arrangements and provide the logistical support necessary to transfer food donations to Catholic Charities.  The request is to pack up the evening of Tuesday, March 19 (7:45-9:00), and deliver later in the week per arrangements with Catholic Charities.
Background
It is an Old-World custom to provide food to the poor on the Feast of Saint Joseph, March 19, an act of almsgiving since the feast falls in Lent. Parishioners will be bringing canned and other non-perishable foods to our Lyceum Auditorium to share the joy and communion of Saint Joseph with those most vulnerable among us.
The planned schedule of events:
  • Monday, March 18th
    • 3:00-7:00pm: Setup in Lyceum – arrange altar tables with linens, place candelabra, statues, flowers, etc.
    • 4:00-7:00pm: Lyceum open for parishioners to drop off food and non-perishable donations (no hot dishes)
  • Tuesday, March 19th
    • 4:00-6:00pm: Lyceum open for parishioners to drop off food and non-perishable donations, food arrangements on tables
    • 6:00-8:00pm: Event start – Blessing of the Altar, Blessing for Fathers, Consecration to St. Joseph
    • 8:00-9:00pm: Cleanup
Ideally the Knights would be available shortly before the end of the event then afterwards to help with transferring the donated non-perishable goods.  Knights would be welcome to support the event from 6:00-8:00 then load out by 9:00 pm.
